An incredible educational technology tool that I use on a weekly basis in my classroom is my school blog. It is a blog set up through my school and is available for viewing through our school website. It is a critical tool for communicating with parents since I often use this in place of a paper newsletter.
On my blog I post important dates, what standards and activities will be taking place in each subject, links to great websites for resources at home, and attachments that allow my parents to pull up study guides for upcoming quizzes or tests.
Although my blog is mainly used as a communication tool between me as the teacher and the parents, it could easily be used as a means of communication between me and my students. The students could use the same resources that I give to the parents (websites, study guides, etc.) but because I teach third grade most of the parents take the roll of checking my blog.
